This year, the Town of York leadership initiated a town employee recognition program that spotlights individuals who have demonstrated outstanding job performance within a specific yearly quarter.

This first officially recognized “Employee of the Quarter” was Department of Public Works Crew Leader, Greg Kasbohm.

Greg began his career at DPW in 2010 as a part-time employee before switching to full-time in 2014. His duties include operating excavators, graders, heavy-duty dump trucks and snowplows, grading roadbeds, installing drainage culverts, roadside ditching work, overseeing sub-contractors, and more. This past fall Greg’s knowledge, skill, and performance resulted in him being promoted to Crew Leader to oversee the many DPW projects that take place every day.

Nominations for Greg from within the department and individuals from other town departments included comments such as, “In addition to his competence and work performance Greg leads by example and is a valued team player. He continually excels in customer service with Town residents and the public.” and “He is one of the most reliable individuals and can communicate with everyone. His ability to explain situations, helps people understand different situations and feel comfortable asking.

When asked about his reaction to the award, Greg said, “I was surprised. I heard about it and then there was an email in my inbox telling everyone. I didn’t expect to get it.

Typical of Greg’s laid-back demeanor, he took it all in stride but as a true team player and crew leader at DPW he was quick to add, “I can’t take all the credit for a job well done. We all work together. Without them (DPW team members) I wouldn’t have gotten the award.

Greg will be recognized with an official certificate and an additional day off as part of the award.

From everyone at the York Department of Public Works, Thank You Greg for all your hard work. You deserve it.
