  • Sat. June 3 – York Hospital 5K
    • Annual fundraiser for York Hospital takes place 8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Course travels on York Street through Steedman Woods, up Organug Road and back to York Street ending at the hospital.

 

  • Sat. June 3 – Old York Garden Club Plant Sale
    • 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Goodrich Park, tables filled with locally grown plants and garden related crafts, public invited. Proceeds support OYGC activities.

 

 

  • Sun. June 18 – York Auto Show
    • Event takes place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at York High School. Sponsored by York Athletic Boosters.
      Fri. June 23/24, AMPSURF Clinic. Surf clinic event at Long Sands Beach from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., to teach those living with disabilities how to surf.

 

  • Wed. June 21 – Open Air Bliss: A Summer Wellness Fest
    • A celebration of summer solstice and International Yoga Day will take place at York Beach ball field from 8 a.m. to noon. Local Yoga teachers will host a class from 8-9:30 a.m. Class will be followed by guest speakers as well as booth set ups for each studio/business involved. Balancing act with Jonna from 11-11:30 will wrap up the event.

 

  • Sat. June 24 – (Rain Date 7/1) – York Beach Fire Dept. Parade and Muster
    • Event takes place at York Beach ball field, 12 pm to 4 p.m. Includes parade of emergency vehicles and fire trucks starting on Robert Stevens Drive ending at York beach ball field. Sponsored by York Beach FD.

 

  • Sat. June 24 – Climate Action Fair
    • From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at York High School. Sponsored by York Ready for Climate Action, this event will have tables for vendors such as Efficiency Maine, Revision Energy, heat pump and solar installers, as well as sustainability-focused businesses and local organizations. York residents who have made energy retrofits to their homes will talk to attendees.

 

  • Thurs. June 29 – Equipped for Surfing
    • Surfing event at Long Sands Beach for individuals with disabilities. Certified USLA lifeguards and surfing instructors, registration at 4:30 pm, event from 5-7 p.m.

  • Sat. July 15 – CF Cycle for Life
    • Event is a 30/65/100 mile one-day bicycle tour that will travel the coastline and the mainland of NH and ME from Kittery to Wells sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Starts on route 103 from Kittery to York Street through the beach using Long Beach Avenue, Nubble and Shore Road back through Kittery from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

 

  • Sun. July 16 – New England Classic Charity Bike Tour
    • From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, this event will be day two of a seven-day fundraising bicycle ride with a destination of UNE in Biddeford, ME. A rest stop will be set up at Sohier Park near the Nubble Light House which will consist of a water bottle refill station and light snacks for approximately 80 – 100 cyclists. The net proceeds will be donated to the American Diabetes Association to support the search for a cure. For more information, visit www.newenglandclassic.org.

 

  • Sat. July 22 – Summer Reading Party/Touch a Truck Event
    • York Public Library is hosting a summer reading party for kids that will include a Touch-a-Truck component from 10 a.m. to noon. Fire truck and DPW truck to be included.

 

  • Thurs. July 27 – Equipped for Surfing
    • Surfing event at Long Sands Beach for individuals with disabilithttps://www.equipforliving.org/upcoming-eventsies. Certified USLA lifeguards and surfing instructors, registration at 4:30 pm, event from 5-7 p.m.

 

 

 

  • Sun. July 30 – York Days 5K
    • 8-11 a.m. Race participants gather at York High School around 7 a.m. with race starting at 8 a.m. Sponsored by York Parks & Rec. Course from Robert Stevens Drive onto Long Sands Road to Ridge Road to Webber Road to Long Beach Avenue to Long Sands Road and back to the high school via Robert Stevens Drive.

August Community Events

  • Tues. Aug 1 – National Night Out
    • National Night Out is an annual community building event that promotes police/community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie, complete with free food, free ice cream, games, bouncy house, touch a truck, giveaways for kids, etc. Event will take place at Bog Road Fields from 5-8 p.m. Sponsored by York PD, York FD.

 

  • Sat. Aug 5 – Bike MS
    • Annual charity cycling event that starts/finishes at U of NE (Biddeford) and passes through York. Funds raised are used to support research programs and services to those living with multiple schlerosis (Not a race – bicycle tour).

 

  • Sat. Aug 5 through Sun. August 6 – York Days Craft Fair
    • Arts and crafts available for purchase at York Beach Ball Field from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Sat), 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Sun).

 

 

  • Sat. Aug 12 – Nubble Light Challenge
    • NLC is a 2.5 mile open ocean swim starting at Long Sands Beach bath house, continuing to the Nubble Lighthouse and finishing at the pavilion at Short Sands Beach from 8 a.m. to noon. All proceeds benefit the Michael Phelps Foundation.

 

  • Thurs. Aug 17 – Equipped for Surfing
    • Surfing event at Long Sands Beach for individuals with disabilities. Certified USLA lifeguards and surfing instructors, registration at 4:30 pm, event at 5-7 p.m. Sponsored by Equip for Living Foundation.

 

  • Sat. Aug 19 – YVFD Field Day
    • York Village Fire Dept. parade starts at noon on York Street from Woodbridge Road to York Library and a muster at Moulton Park.

September Community Events

  • Sat. Sept 2 – Beach Bonfire Benefit
    • Event takes place at Long Sands Beach, below the bath house from 6-10 p.m. with burgers, dogs, sodas, music, etc.

 

  • Sat. Sept 9 – Surf Re-Evolution
    • Gathering of local surf board companies and environmentally conscious brands and small businesses from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at York Beach Ball Field.

 

  • Sat. Sept 16 – Art in the Park
    • Event takes place at Moulton Park in York Harbor from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and sponsored by York Art Assn. A gathering of local crafters and artists displaying and selling their work.

 

  • Sat. Sept 16 – Mt. A Trail Challenge
    • The event is a 5K and a 1 mile race from 9-11 a.m. The 5K race will start at 9 a.m. and the 1 mile at 9:15 a.m. with snacks, refreshments and awards given out to participants.

 

  • Sat. Sept 16 – Walk to End Alzheimer’s
    • The event is a 3-mile walk to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event will start at York Beach Ball Field down Church Street to Long Sands Beach to Anchorage Motor Inn, then head north on Long Sands Avenue, continue along Short Sands Beach, onto Railroad Avenue and back to ball field.

 

  • Sat. Sept 23 – Seacoast Century
    • 49th annual recreational bicycle ride/fund raiser for bicycle education and safety. Cyclists ride 25, 50, 63 or 100 mile routes, starts on Bartlett road from Kittery through Long Sands Beach, Nubble, Short Sands Beach, Shore Road, Cape Neddick, York Village and back to Bartlett Road from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

October Community Events

  • Sat. Oct 7 through Mon. Oct 9 – Short Sands Sidewalk Sale
    • Retail business shops in Short Sands display merch on racks on sidewalk from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

 

  • Sat. Oct 7 through Sun. Oct 8 – Harvest Cup
    • York Soccer club annual Soccer Tourney. Games will take place at Village Elementary School, York High School and Bog Road fields from 7 am to 7 pm.

 

  • Fri. Oct 13- Sun. Oct 15 – Daisy Trading Tent Sale
    • Annual end of season tent sale at Daisy Trading Company from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 

  • Sat. Oct 14 – Harvest Fest and Kidsfest
    • 38th annual crafts, arts and vendors, kid’s activities, horse and wagon rides, etc. Event takes place at Beach Ball Field and the parking lot across from York Beach Fire Dept. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

  • Sat. Oct 21 – Trooper Black Foundation 5K
    • Event takes place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. for first responders. Participants can run or walk. Event starts in front of the Center for Active Living, head north on Main street and then continues to shore road, after crossing bridge, participants will then take a left on River Road followed by a left on Clark Road and then a left to Cape Neddick road. After merging back onto Main Street, participants
      will pass back by the Center for Active Living and then finish up the field at Triple C Drive on the right.

 

  • Sun. Oct 22 – Agamentacus Ski Club Beach Race
    • Annual 5K running race on Long Sands Beach from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funds raised benefit the Agamenticus Ski Club.

 

  • Fri. Oct 27 – Festival of Frights Parade
    • Kids and parents dressed in Halloween costumes will meet at 4 pm at town hall and walk to Village Elementary School. Event includes truck or treat activity behind the school.
