Please note, the York Recycling & Compost Facility is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 AM to 4 PM. A yearly $25 permit is required for residents and $100 permit is required for commercial business per vehicle. Permits are available at the Clerk’s office in the Town Hall.

  • Demo wood, roof shingles, inert materials, and more can be taken to the Kennebunk Transfer Station. Open Tuesday – Saturday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. This facility is open to the public with costs per item.

  • Arrangements can be made to pick up wooden furniture with weekly curbside trash by calling 207-560-9442 and arranging for a bulk pick up by Casella.
  • The Kennebunk Transfer Station will also accept furniture.

  • Both waste oil and antifreeze are accepted at the York Recycling & Compost Facility at 65 Witchtrot Road.
  • See attendant for assistance when disposing.
  • York residents can drop off tires at the annual Tire Drop Day at the York Recycling & Compost Facility at 65 Witchtrot Road. No registration is needed.

Can’t find what you’re looking for?
  • Most spoiled food waste and table scraps are compostable and can be dropped off at the York Recycling Facility at 65 Witchtrot Road. Food composting bins are located behind the waste oil and antifreeze tanks.
  • Gently used clothing and textiles can be deposited in the yellow Planet Aid receptacles at the York Recycling & Compost Facility at 65 Witchtrot Road.
  • Empty propane tanks and fire Extinguishers can be disposed of at the York Recycling & Compost Facility located at 65 Witchtrot Road.
  • Clean, corrugated, box board, dry-food boxes, rolls and egg cartons can be tossed into recycling bins for curbside pick up.
  • Wet, soiled cardboard should be put into trash for curbside pickup.

Recycling & Compost Facility

Located at 65 Witchtrot Road, the facility is open year-round on Wednesdays & Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To use the facility, residents need to purchase an annual permit for $25 at the Clerk’s Office at Town Hall and will receive a sticker that needs to be displayed on their vehicle. Commercial permits are also available for $100. Permits are valid from July 1 – June 30.

Important Note: Please do not bring plastics, wood furniture or construction debris to the facility and please remove doors from refrigerators and freezers.
