York’s Department of Public Works is holding its annual Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m at the Recycling Facility located at 65 Witchtrot Road in York.
Residents must have a Recycle Facility use permit ($25) that can be purchased at the Clerk’s Office. Registration for the event is also required and available online by visiting our Hazardous Waste Day page.
DPW crew members and volunteers will be onsite to safely dispose unwanted pesticides, varnish, lacquer thinner, old gasoline, adhesives and more.
Last year, over 200 York residents took part in the event filling more than ten industrial-sized 55-gallon drums with hazardous waste and thousands of pounds of potentially toxic materials hauled away.
