Big A 50K

  • Saturday, May 4th from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • A 50-kilometer trail run consisting of three loops on Mt. Agamenticus, 2nd and 3rd hill. Proceeds support Mt. A Conservation Programs. For more information, go to yorkparksandrec.org

 

Salty’s 5K & Double Nubble 10K Road Race

  • Saturday, May 5th from 9 AM – 12 PM

Spring Ride

  • Saturday, May 5th at 11 AM
  • Fundraiser motorcycle ride by Patriot Riders of America Maine Chapter One. Begins at York High School with kickstands up at 11 a.m. leaving York on Robert Stevens Drive, onto Webber Road, Ridge, Old Post Road, then onto Route 1 to Bentley’s in Arundel. Total ride is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

 

Family Bike Ride

  • Saturday, May 11th at 10 AM – 12 PM
  •  Travel on Long Sands Road to York Street to Village Elementary School and back again. Sponsored by the York Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee.

 

Oddity By the Ocean

  • Saturday, May 11th at 11 AM – 4 PM
  • Odd By Nature’s 3-year anniversary celebration will feature 40 breweries from around the country and live music from four different bands.

 

Children’s Cancer Program Fundraiser

  • Monday, May 18th at 10 AM – 2 PM
  • Across the street from the York Beach Fire Station. The York Elks will be collecting donations for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

 

Memorial Day Parade

  • Monday, May 27th at 10 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Parade starts near St. Christopher’s Church and proceeds down York Street to York Town Hall. Sponsored by the York Committee for Veterans Affairs.

June Community Events

York Hospital 5K Road Race

  • Saturday, June 1st from 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM
  • This annual, timed, family-friendly event is open to all participants with a course that goes over the iconic Wiggly Bridge, along the beautiful York River, through Steedman Woods, past the York Golf & Tennis Club and then back to the hospital campus in town. Prizes for top male and female winners in each division, healthy snacks and refreshments. Registration is $25 (age 14+), $10 (age 13 and under), and $50 (families/groups up to five participants). Pre-Registration will close at midnight on Wednesday, May 29. Paper registration forms will be available for cash, check or credit card on race day. Race begins promptly at 8:30 a.m., rain or shine.

 

Old York Garden Club Plant Sale

  • Saturday, June 1st from 9 AM – 12 PM
  • Sale takes place on the grounds of Goodrich Park. Tables with locally grown plants will be available for residents to purchase. Proceeds support ongoing club initiatives, civic development and student scholarships.

 

Family Health & Fitness Day

  • Saturday, June 8th from 8 AM – 12 PM
  • Individuals and families welcome to attend event at York Beach Ball Field for health and fitness, free Yoga class, free balancing course, reiki, massage, chiropracty and more. Sponsored by York Parks & Recreation.

 

York Auto Show at York High School

  • Saturday, June 16th
  • Show car gates open at 6 AM, check-in from 7 AM – 10 AM, public welcome 8 AM to 3 PM.
  • $10 entry fee per show car, $5 general admission.

 

Equipped for Surfing at Long Sands Beach

  • Thursday, June 20th
  • Registration at 4:30 PM with event from 5 PM to 7 PM.
  • Surfing event for individuals with disabilities. There will be numerous volunteers including individuals specially trained in adaptive events, certified USLA Lifeguards as well as surfing instructors.

 

Ampsurf Learn to Surf Clinic at Long Sands Beach

  • Friday, June 21st – Saturday, June 22 from 7 AM to 1 PM
  • Learn to surf clinic to teach those living with disabilities how to surf. Sponsored by the Association of Amputee Surfers.

 

Tri-State Trek

  • Saturday, June 23rd from 9 AM to 1 PM
  • The Tri-State Trek is a fully supported bike ride that travels through three states. Its mission is to raise funds for ALS research at the ALS Therapy Development Institute. The course includes riding on roads in York, ME. The Trek will begin and end each day at the University of New Hampshire campus in Durham, NH.

 

St. George’s Episcopal Church Yard Sale

  • Saturday, June 29th from 8 AM to 1 PM
  • Yard Sale at Moulton Park next to St. George (407 York Street).

July Community Events

Four on the 4th Road Race

  • Thursday, July 4th from 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM
  •  from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The annual July 4 road race starts at York High School and takes place along Long Sands Beach and returns. For more information, go to yorkparksandrec.org.

 

Fourth of July Fireworks

  • Thursday, July 4th at 9:30 PM
  •  Celebrate the Fourth of July with a colorful fireworks display at Ellis Short Sands Park

  • Thursday, July 11th from 5 PM – 7 PM. Registration begins at 4:30 PM.

Cycle for Life – Seacoast Safari

  • Saturday, July 13th from 7:30 AM – 4 PM.
  • A 35/65/100 mile one day fundraising bicycle tour that will travel the coastline and the mainland of New Hampshire and Maine. Sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

 

Celebrate National Ice Cream Day!

  • Saturday, July 20th from 11 AM – 1 PM at Goodrich Park.

 

York Days 5K

  • Sunday, July 28th from 7 AM – 11 AM
  •  Race participants will gather at York High School with the race beginning at 8 a.m. For more information, go to yorkparksandrec.org.
